Sailability

Sailability is a unique international program that enables people of all abilities to enjoy sailing. Full information about its international network appears at www.sailability.org

Throughout Victoria there are nearly 20 programs that provide sailing opportunities for people of all abilities. The Victorian programs have proudly produced some of the world’s best sailors with a disability including the World Champion blind sailor. But most importantly they provide the opportunity for everyone, and all ages to experience the independence and exhilaration of sailing.

Sailing opportunities are available in all sorts of boat …from small dinghies through to larger keel boats. There are also boats modified to suit individual abilities. The Access dinghy range, designed and widely used in Victoria, is easily sailed by novices and people with a disability . Its heavily weighted keel, forward facing seating position, and joystick or servo assisted controls, mean almost anyone can sail with security and peace of mind.

And the Victorian programs are all run by committed and supportive volunteers who understand both the pleasure of sailing and the needs of their participants.
